CHAN BROWN (Vox) ZEL KAUTE (Stix) MAREK STEVEN (Axe)
where are you from:
North London now (via South London Cornwall and Hampshire)
instruments you use:
One three string guitar, drums, one vocal!
style of music:
Old sounding heavy metal with soul sorcerer vox, plus fire and wizards.
I’ve been playing similar raw guitar for a long time, Zel and I had a different singer who was very good but crazy, she moved to NYC and we found Chan straight away when we played instrumentally on 1st Jan 2007. And she is even better!
what’s your message?
That heavy metal should be fun and escapist with good riffs and chaos. We also hark back to days when witches, woods and magic ruled... much better times!
do you play shows and how do they look like?
We play a lot in the UK and Europe too. The drummer Zel is very good - and fun to watch - and singer Chan wears a purple robe and casts vocal spells in bare feet. I usually throw my guitar or smash my pedals at the end so we don’t have to do an encore!
what was the craziest show you’ve ever played ?
We’ve played some big shows like playing in front of short films at Latitude and big heavy metal festivals at 11am, but one time Zel lit her cymbals on fire (to our surprise) and I threw my guitar and smashed a big window by mistake. We got good coverage in NME as a result, haha.
what was the worst and why?
We have played a fair few times when the other bands play for AGES and ages so we have 15 minutes to get ready on stage and play to people leaving for 10 minutes, that sucks I guess but it’s always fun to play really.
what are your future plans?
We have a second album we’re working on that sounds light years better than our old stuff. We’d like to get a nice big support slot maybe, build an audience slowly. We want to tour Europe and Japan with our friends Bo Ningen (who are amazing!)
are you going for the big deal or are you more the d.i.y. type?
We are more DIY for sure. We are serious about it but we are too heavy for the mainstream and too original for the heavy metal world so far. Slow progress is better right?

what’s your best song eva and why?:
It should always be the last one your wrote as you should always learn and get better. So right now it IS a classic rock sounding one that we have just written, it’s very catchy!
This is an exclusive track we did for fun in a day last year. We wrote it in a few hours on tour and did all the lyrics and vocals on the spot. It’s loosely based on an HP Lovecraft story.
