...........-------...........

name of the band:

Nikki Lynette

members:

Me. And in the studio my Co-producer,
Matt Hennessy. And onstage my dj
Marcus Shadden. And that’s it.

age:

LoL.

band started:

In 2010, I guess. But technically since
puberty.

where are you from:

Chicago, Illinois. In America, aka ObamaLand.

instruments you use:

For production I use the M-Audio Axiom 61 MIDI controller with Reason, my Co-producer uses Logic and Ableton with a far better board than mine. I’m hating. LoL.

style of music:

I describe it as urban/pop/punk. I just call my genre Badass.

band history:

After getting screwed over for a few years by people who were trying to mold me into something I wasn’t, I broke out on my own and started doing the indie thing. Now, 3 years later, thanx to lots of love from MTV’s music department, I’m doing pretty good.

what’s your message?

Dare to be different. Cuz fuck "the same."

do you play shows and how do they look like?

My live performances will usually include my dj, Marcus Shadden, and I like to perform with a screen behind me playing my music videos and other crazy stuff. I get pretty nuts at shows, I like to have my fun onstage.

what was the craziest show you’ve ever played ?

South By Southwest music fest, 2011. I woke up that morning completely hoarse with a super raspy voice because someone had turned the air conditioning on overnight. I had a BIG show that day. I sing and rap, but with a hoarse voice singing was out of the question. My co-producer and my bff made me drink SO MUCH honey and tea up until showtime. I did a full rap performance and killed it. After that my voice was gone for about 2 weeks. It’s never been the same since, my voice is a bit deeper now. That show made me into a proper gentleman. LoL! Here’s the video to prove I’m not exaggerating:

what was the worst and why?

I performed at a gig where the house band barely knew my music (because they had not been able to find time to rehearse with me,) the host of the show introduced me SUPER poorly, and then at the end of my set the band went into another song without warning and I was just standing there trying to pretend as if I knew what was going on. I blogged about it afterward. The nightclub owner got mad. He’s my friend now though. "Everybody loves me. Nobodies hate me."

what are your future plans?

Drop a single, do a tour, take over the world...

are you going for the big deal or are you more the d.i.y. type?

I don’t know yet. I’ve already had to turn down contracts, and that can get kinda discouraging. But I can’t wait around, if a deal comes then it comes. In the meantime I’m out here doing my thing. I already make a good living off my music, so I’m in no rush.

on megapeng

This song "Young & Dumb" is a remix I did with my homies I Fight Dragons. It's one of my favorite songs I’ve done, mostly cuz of the message. I like music with a rebellious type message. Yup. I’m wayyy too opinionated.
