Abstract Random started with Jamilah and Sunsun, in the backyard of Heartbeat 960, Sun made a bunch of experimental beats and Jamilah was a Dub Poet at the time- the first track was Security. Sunsun makes all the beats for the group. We started painting our faces and wearing costumes from jump. Face-painting became a ritual for us. Most of our tracks starts with the beat and words usually come second. We continued on, dropped a ep, toured Montreal and joined 88 Days Of Fortune. Ayo Leilani joined the band officially in 2011, after being featured in a bunch of tracks off our first album Dis Rupt Dis Reality.

Feminism, anti authority , love, freedom, human equality
do you play shows and how do they look like?
We play shows all the time. In parks, music festivals, galleries, on the street, bars etc… it looks like a bunch of paper mache masks flying around, sweaty face paint, fun costumes, fireworks, fun video visual projections, 3 women rocking out and a fun dance party.
what was the craziest show you’ve ever played ?
88 Days Of Fortune - Haiti Fundraiser - at the Ossington(Toronto) The crowd was so hype and singing along. The energy exchange was so big. Here is a link footage for that night.
what was the worst and why?
what are your future plans?
we are heading to Berlin April 17th, we have a show booked with FABLAB on the 20th and we are in talks about other shows in Europe. We just Dropped a album SIREN SONGS and are already working on the next… its gonna be a dance album. New video up, Playdead
We make all our videos our self.
are you going for the big deal or are you more the d.i.y. type?
We like both, but also need to feed ourselves and fund us making videos and travelling, so its nice to get paid.
